V-2, LM-3 1800 LIBEKTY Half Dime
A Rare MS62 Representative
1800 H10C LIBEKTY MS62 PCGS. V-2, LM-3, R.4. The V-2 or LM-3 is the more common of the two 1800 half dime die pairs with LIBEKTY obverse (the V-4, LM-4 is extremely rare regardless of grade). That said, the LM-3 is itself very scarce, and opportunities to own a Mint State representative of the LIBEKTY type are nearly as rare as the coins themselves. This is a generally well-defined example, and the defective top of the R in LIBERTY is clear. Rich peach-gold and blue-green toning washes across each side, and powerful luster shines through the patina. Great eye appeal with few serious abrasions for the grade. For the two LIBEKTY die pairs together, Population: 4 in 62, 9 finer (8/11).(Registry values: P5) (NGC ID# 2326, PCGS# 4265)
