Description:
Late Die State 1800 B-10, BB-190 Draped Bust Dollar
1800 $1 Wide Date, Low 8. B-10, BB-190, R.2. VF35 NGC. Wide date, 00 far apart, 8 low; Die dot above left base of second T in STATES. Reiver state b. Bowers-Borckardt state VI. Light silver with a touch of peripheral gold on the obverse, more golden on the reverse. Highly attractive for the grade and a well struck coin despite the very late die state. On the reverse, the die has shattered, with multiple cracks through AMERICA, and an additional die crack touching the base of the U from the rim to the arrowheads above and extending faintly to the third feather on the left wing above the shield. Although these cracks are shallow, they are quite numerous and make this late die state a delight to study. Obviously the reverse die didn't last too long after the present coin was struck, although several examples are known that show these die cracks.
Ex: Vinci (1/20/1990). Envelope Included.(Registry values: P1) (PCGS# 6888)

I received the catalog and was very impressed with its color illustrations, descriptions and attractive layout. (It has better production values than the New York houses.)
