Description:
Important Very Fine 1793 Liberty Cap Cent
1793 1C Liberty Cap VF20 PCGS. S-13, Low R.4. While the Chain Cent and Wreath Cents boast the advantages of single year type status, it is the Liberty Cap design that is the scarcest for the year. Breen estimated that only 250 Liberty Cap cents dated 1793 exist in all grades and of all varieties. The present deep brown is quite sharp, and possesses a full complement of dentils on each side. LIBERTY, the date, the fraction, and other peripheral legends are bold, and the types are clear. The centers are slightly soft by comparison, and the reverse has a couple of minor rim dings near 3 o'clock and a few wispy, subdued pinscratches near the T in CENT.
