Description
1866 Irish Republic "Fenian Brotherhood" Trade Token, Rulau-NY-NY-A117. Wright-494, R.6. Brass, 30 mm, 11.6 gm. Obverse large F B divided by sailing ship, IRISH REPUBLIC at rims. Reverse clasped hands in center, IRELAND AMERICA at rims, sprig of shamrock with 18 and 66 flanking. Issued pierced--many collectors, though not all (see Rulau fourth edition of Standard Catalogue of United States Tokens 1700-1900, page 748) by the Fenian Brotherhood that invaded Canada in May of that year.
