Description
Premium Gem 1862 Seated Half
Semiprooflike Surfaces
1862 50C MS66 NGC. CAC. This Premium Gem is a simply
remarkable example of this Civil War issue, and perhaps the finest
one that this cataloger has ever seen. Current population reports
show a total of eight coins graded at MS66, four apiece at NGC and
PCGS. Two Superb Gems have been certified, both by NGC. This piece
displays design elements that have all been sharply impressed,
including Liberty's hair and the eagle's leg feathers, arrow
fletchings, and talons. A semiprooflike sheen encompasses the
silver-white fields, and the devices are mildly frosted. Surface
marks are minimal, as expected for a coin at this lofty grade
level. Census: 4 in 66, 2 finer (11/11).(Registry values: N4719)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 24J9, PCGS# 6307, Greysheet# 6280)
