1930-S Ten Dollar, AU Details
Rare Mass-Melted Issue

1930-S $10 -- Surfaces Smoothed -- PCGS Genuine. AU Details. The mintage of the 1930-S ten was only 96,000 pieces, but most of the production apparently never left Treasury vaults, and was eventually melted. There are less than 200 survivors, far fewer than the number of collectors tackling the ten dollar Indian series. The present yellow-gold example shows little if any wear from circulation, and neither side shows abrasions. The surfaces are luminous, with glossy devices and mattelike fields.

Note for clients in the European Union: This lot is considered by the European Union to be “investment gold”. We believe that it meets the criteria established in Article 344(1), point (2) of Council Directive 2006/112/EC and thus should be exempt from import VAT regardless of the selling price. Any questions or concerns about VAT should be addressed to your accountant or local tax authority.
