Description:
Lovely Gem 1870 Standard Silver Ten Cent
Judd-867, High R.6
1870 10C Standard Silver Ten Cents, Judd-867, Pollock-963, High R.6, PR65 NGC.
Design.
Obverse Liberty Head with hairbun and star on headband, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA around, motto IN GOD WE TRUST on scroll below. Reverse 10 / CENTS inside a small oak and laurel wreath. STANDARD SILVER, in large letters, arcs along the top half of the reverse rim. The date 1870 is at the lower reverse rim. Struck in silver with a reeded edge.

Commentary.
Combines the obverse of Judd-849 and similar types with the reverse of Judd-855 and its siblings. The obverse die was first used on Judd-708 of 1869.

Physical Description.
Dappled highlights of heather and fuchsia appear on both sides of this charming Gem coin. NGC Census: 1 in PR65, 3 finer. PCGS Population: 1 in PR65, 4 finer (12/08).

Ex: Stack's private treaty (10/1981).
