Exceptional MS67 1877-CC Seated Quarter

1877-CC 25C MS67 PCGS. CAC. In 1877, the fabled Carson City Mint produced a near-record 4.2 million quarters, second in quantity only to the 4.9 million pieces for the Centennial-year issue. Accordingly, collectors desiring a CC-mint quarter for type sets usually select the 1876-CC and 1877-CC quarters to fulfill that purpose. Although it was not yet known, the 1877-CC quarter production would be the last million-plus-coin quarter emission, as the introduction of the Morgan or "Bland" silver dollar in the following year would reduce the manufacture of other silver coins to token levels in order to accommodate the flood of the new cartwheels.
This splendid Superb Gem offers stunning, original amber-gold and cinnamon coloration on the obverse, with the reverse offering peripheral tinges of ice-blue and lilac centers. Despite the moderate intensity of the colors, there is much luster radiating forth, producing a visual treat and a coin of exceptional beauty. Population: 6 in 67, 0 finer (11/08).
