MS61 1877 Three Dollar Gold
1877 $3 MS61 PCGS. The meager production of 1,468 1877 three dollar gold pieces account for the only business strike examples of the denomination made between the mammoth mintages of 1874 and 1878. The date is elusive today regardless of grade, and at the Mint State level it is an indisputable condition rarity. While this MS61 example is lightly abraded overall and has a curving flaw at the middle of the jawline, its intense semireflective honey-gold field luster grants the coin undeniable eye appeal. Housed in a green label holder. Population: 5 in 61, 4 finer (12/10).(Registry values: N4719) (NGC ID# 25MY, PCGS# 7999)
