Description:
1877-CC Twenty Dollar, AU58
Elusive in Mint State
1877-CC $20 AU58 PCGS. CAC. This first Type Three issue among Carson City twenties was struck to the extent of just 42,565 pieces, but many were exported only to be repatriated decades later. Accordingly, choice Mint State examples are rare -- bagmarks are usually the problem -- but examples are usually obtainable in grades from Very Fine to AU. This near-Mint State example offers deep orange-gold color with bright, reflective fields. Both sides are uniformly sharply struck. Only minor, light abrasions appear, save for a tight cluster of contact marks on the face of Liberty. Population: 48 in 58, 27 finer (1/12).(Registry values: N1793) (NGC ID# 26AZ, PCGS# 8983)
