Description:
1795 Half Dime, AU58, V-9, LM-5, R.6
Finest We Have Ever Offered
1795 H10C AU58 NGC. V-9, LM-5, R.6. Six curls appear at the rear of Liberty's hair, and star 15 nearly touches the bust. On the reverse, there are two inner and one outer berry under the eagle's left (facing) wing. Our Permanent Auction Archives, which date back to 1993, reveal five prior sales (including the present example) of the very rare V-9, LM-5 die marriage in Heritage auctions. An XF40 NGC coin brought $4,887.50 in 2005, an XF45 NGC coin brought $5,175 in 2007, and this piece in its last appearance brought $7,762.50. The surfaces are lightly toned, pearl-white aside from minor rose-gold toning near the rims. Luster fills the hair and wings, and no marks are consequential. An important opportunity for the early die variety specialist.
