Select 1837 Feuchtwanger Three Cent
Eagle Obverse, HT-263
1837 3C Feuchtwanger Three Cent, Eagle MS63 PCGS. CAC. Low-118, HT-263, R.5. A defiant eagle faces left and stands on a rock. While the Bavarian-born chemist Lewis Feuchtwanger tenaciously began lobbying Congress in the 1830s for the introduction of coinage using his composition of copper, nickel, zinc, and tin, powerful nickel interests eventually prevailed upon the conclusion of the Civil War. Although Feuchtwanger's one cent German-silver tokens are relatively plentiful, his three cent tokens are undeniably scarce, particularly in Mint State. This outstanding example may certainly be one of the finest pieces extant for the denomination. The strike is intricate and the smooth and satiny steel-gray surfaces display light russet toning streaks down both sides. Listed on page 400 of the 2013 Guide Book. Population: 1 in 63, 2 finer (10/12).
Ex: Orlando FUN Signature (Heritage, 1/2006), lot 3718, which realized $11,500. (PCGS# 20004)

Testimonials:
Due completely to Heritage's thoroughly diligent and professional management and promotion of the collection, the faraday Collection stirred national attention among numismatists and the auction results brought a gross value greater than that last estimated by the experienced collector.
