Description:
White MS66 1950-D/S Quarter
High Grade
Guide Book Overmintmark
1950-D/S 25C MS66 PCGS. CAC. FS-601. Ex: Michael Fuller Collection. The upper loop of the S emerges above the overmintmark D. This important Guide Book variety is much rarer in better Mint State grades than its 1950-S/D counterpart. The essentially brilliant surfaces are lustrous and crisply struck. Only delicate grazes on the obverse field and motifs determine the grade. Minor strike doubling on the Denver mintmark is usual for the variety, as is the slender horizontal die break on the eagle's head. Population: 7 in 66, 1 finer (11/12).
Ex: Michael Fuller Collection (Heritage, 11/2007), lot 60895, which realized $23,000.
