Large Stars Obverse 1799 Eagle
Choice XF, BD-10
1799 $10 Large Stars Obverse XF45 PCGS. BD-10, R.3. 1799 was an abundant year for gold eagle varieties. Ten die marriages are known; eight with small obverse stars and two with large obverse stars. The latter share the same obverse die, and although BD-9 is very rare, BD-10 is collectible by the standards of the challenging series. The present orange-gold and olive-green representative is devoid of visible marks although the fields display minor hairlines. The eagle's plumage is intricately detailed and glimpses of luster outline design elements. The Heraldic Eagle ten dollar is missing from most gold type sets, and here is an opportunity to obtain a problem-free but collector-grade example.(Registry values: P1) (NGC ID# 2623, PCGS# 8562)
