Full Red 1877 Indian Cent, PR66
Strong Date Pressure From Collectors
1877 1C PR66 Red PCGS. The smooth sheen on both sides of this important 1877 cent allows full appreciation of the rich cherry-red luster with a noticeably deeper appearance on the reverse. Both sides display razor-sharp striking definition throughout, and the surfaces are expectedly free of distracting carbon for the PR66 level of preservation. A small amount of die rotation is noted, somewhat unusual on this proof issue. The 1877 is not appreciably rarer than any of the other proof Indian cents from this decade. As specialists know, however, this issue is under extreme collector pressure due to the key date status of the business strike 1877 cent. Expect strong bidder competition for this Premium Gem. Population: 11 in 66 Red, 2 finer (4/13).
