Description:
1795 B-1, BB-21 Dollar, XF45
Flowing Hair, Two Leaves
Blundered Date
1795 $1 Flowing Hair, Two Leaves XF45 NGC. B-1, BB-21, R.2. The Blundered Date variety with the 7 punched over an errant 1, often incorrectly described as "1795 over 1195." None of the other digits show any evidence of repunching. Among the many varieties of 1795 Flowing Hair silver dollars, B-1 and B-5 stand out as the two most plentiful die marriages, encompassing between them nearly half of all known examples of the type. Bolender-1 represents the Two Leaves reverse and B-5 represents the Three Leaves reverse. This Choice XF specimen has smooth pewter-gray surfaces with traces of champagne toning. Both sides have trivial scattered marks, and prominent, nearly horizontal adjustment marks appear at the center and left side of the obverse.(Registry values: P4) (NGC ID# 24WZ, PCGS# 6853)
