Description:
1955 Doubled Die Cent, MS64 Red
All-Time Collector Favorite
1955 1C Doubled Die Obverse MS64 Red PCGS Secure. FS-101. Red examples of the 1955 Doubled Die cent are always the subject of strong pursuit among the legions of Lincoln cent collectors. Not only are they rare in their own right with Red surfaces, they enjoy a sentimental niche among "old-time collectors" as one of the historic 1950s-1960s issues that helped popularize modern-day variety collecting. This near-Gem primarily displays consistent orange-red on the obverse with some deeper red on the reverse, and the strike is about average. A couple of tiny field ticks account for the grade, but carbon is conspicuously absent, and this bold "naked eye" variety looks just as startling as ever. PCGS has graded only 18 Red coins finer (1/14).(Registry values: N2998) (NGC ID# 22FG, PCGS# 2827)
