Description:
A Beautiful 1931 Proof Set!
George V silver & bronze Proof Set 1931, 8 pieces, KM-PS6, mintage of 62 sets, each coin certified by PCGS as follows: bronze Farthing, KM12.3, PR65 BN, a superb piece with essentially flawless surfaces and wonderful mahogany-brown color; Halfpenny, KM13.3, PR65 BN, as fine as the farthing other than a strike-through on the king's cheek, a great rarity as no commercial pieces are known with the denomination expressed as "1/2D"; Penny, KM14.3, PR64 BN, very choice, a few faint contact ticks in the field left of the king's beard; silver Threepence, KM15.2, PR65, flawless other than tiny carbon flecks and some breaks in the colorful iridescent toning probably from an old fingerprint, still a really beautiful "Tickey"; Sixpence, KM16.2, PR65, a gem with even silvery gold iridescence; Shilling, KM17.3, PR65, also a gem with bright silvery gold iridescence; 2 Shillings or Florin, KM22, PR65, an exquisite gem, virtually perfect with bright silvery gold iridescence; and the 2-1/2 Shillings or Halfcrown, KM19.3, PR65, another gem, just gorgeous with bright silvery gold iridescence. Portrait by Bertram Mackennal; reverses designed and engraved by Kruger Gray. This is a matched and fully original set, the bronzes all nearly identical in color, the silver sharing the same rich colors. If anything, the numerical grades assigned to these pieces are conservative. The finest set of this date we have encountered. Very rare, especially in Gem Proof.
