Description:
George V "Short" Proof Set 1936, 8 pieces, KM-PS11, Hern-P12, 40 sets minted, each coin graded by NGC as follows: bronze 1/4 Penny (Farthing) PR63 BN, 1/2 Penny PR63 RB, Penny PR63 RB, silver 3 Pence PR63, 6 Pence PR63, Shilling PR64 Cameo, 2 Shillings PR64 Cameo, and 2 1/2 Shillings PR64. The bronzes are all very choice and also extremely well matched, having almost identical color, a faded golden brown. The silver has reflective mirror fields, toned light silvery white, the 3 Pence russet gold in toning. The 6 Pence, Shilling, and 2 1/2 Shillings are particularly pleasing. Very rare as a set, although Brian Hern describes the 1936 Proof Set as the most available of all of George V's proof sets, and yet with a mintage of 40 it is certainly elusive.
