Description:
Popular and Desirable About Uncirculated 1795 Small Eagle Ten Dollar
1795 $10 13 Leaves AU50 NGC. B. 1-A, Taraszka-1, R.3. The 1795 Capped Bust Right, Small Eagle Ten was produced with five known die marriages between September 27, 1795 and March 30, 1796. It seems highly likely that representatives of the B. 1-A variety were the first delivered because they were preserved in greater numbers than examples of the other four die marriages. The novelty of these large, impressive gold coins and their resultant popularity among the public at the time also explains why most survivors grade XF-AU; i.e., many examples were retrieved after a short stint in circulation and preserved for posterity. With a pleasing, honey-gold sheen and ample remaining definition over the main design elements, this coin would do wonders for a high grade circulated type set. There is a smattering of light to moderate abrasions on both sides, most of which are not individually distracting, and none of which are out of context with the AU grade level. One of numerous important gold offerings from the present collection.
