Description
Elusive Select 1859 Seated Dollar
1859 $1 MS63 PCGS. Despite a reasonable mintage of 256,500 pieces, the 1859 is scarce in all grades, and is much more difficult to locate in Mint State than its New Orleans counterpart. This satiny older holder example is attractively toned in honey color, and is well struck save for the softness on Liberty's hair and nearby star so often encountered on business strikes of the design. A few minor marks on the fields and Liberty's neck do not substantially alter the eye appeal. Population: 14 in 63, 6 finer (6/05).From The Dr. John L. Pellegrini Collection of Liberty Seated Dollars.(#6946)(Registry values: N2998)
