Cristiano Bierrenbach started trading coins in his native Rio de Janeiro at the age of seven before founding his own successful numismatic business. In 1996, he established one of the first numismatic shops on eBay and later became the youngest Technical Director of the Brazilian Numismatic Society at the age of 30. Cristiano joined Heritage and moved to the United States in 2007. Under his leadership, Heritage World and Ancient Coins auction sales grew steadily from $12.8 million in that year to $41.5 million in 2011, the year he became a partner. Cristiano developed the market for Heritage online-only automated auction venues, which today feature more than sixty events per year. In World Coins alone, these auctions exceed $12 million annually. Since 2015, Cristiano has been at the forefront of Heritage’s international expansion into Europe and Asia, and will continue to expand the company’s international footprint in the future.

Roxana Uskali, the Director of Numismatics for Heritage Auctions’ Chicago office, started collecting coins like many of you — as a youngster who frequented a local coin and stamp shop in her neighborhood. She graduated cum laude from Loyola University Chicago, receiving degrees in world history, theology, and piano performance before pairing her diverse academic background and her love of traveling into a career in professional numismatics. Roxana spent nine years working as the principal world coin numismatist for the prestigious Chicago firm Harlan J. Berk, Ltd., and more recently, her own company, KRCoins. Over the last several years, she has helped catalog Heritage’s world coin auctions while also frequently attending major coin shows around the U.S. and abroad. In addition to being a member of the ANA, the IBNS, the Chicago Coin Club, and the CSNS, Roxana also produces coin-related videos called Coincasts.

Jacco Scheper started collecting coins and stamps in 1977 at the age of 7. After graduating from the famous international Business University Nijenrode in 1991, Jacco held various management positions. In 1996 he and Huib Pelzer acquired coin show organizer MPO, and eventually transformed it into an auction and trading company. MPO held its first auction in 1999. Within a few years MPO became the leading auction house for coins, banknotes and stamps in the Netherlands, and expanded its auction activities to other collectibles from 2011 onwards. In 2015 MPO’s superb reputation for integrity and expertise caught the attention of the owners of Heritage Auctions, which acquired MPO and its entire staff and rebranded it as Heritage Auctions Europe. 

In 2006 Jacco was voted onto the board of the NVMH (Dutch association of Coin Dealers), and elected President of the board in 2009, serving a 6 year term ending in 2012. In 2015 he became President again. Jacco also serves as one of the experts of the NVMH Committee for Numismatic Certification. He also served as a member of the board of SBN (Foundation to Promote Numismatics) from 2006 until 2015, is one of the judges of Krause's COTY (Coin Of The Year – Award), and holds memberships in TMV (Association for Registered Appraisers), Hobéon – recognized – and KGMPK (Royal Society for Coins and Medals).

Jacco is conversant in English, French, Dutch/Flemish and German.

Kenneth Yung joined Heritage Auctions as Director of Asian Operations after building a career in numismatics as one of the most active dealers in the Hong Kong and China markets. In addition to accepting consignments for upcoming Heritage auctions, he will be responsible for all Hong Kong office operations. Kenneth began to develop a strong interest in collecting older items as a child, which eventually led to collecting coins and banknotes during his high school years, and owning a retail business in Hong Kong during the 1990’s. He has been a full-time dealer since 2002 and PCGS, NGC & PMG authorized dealer since 2012. A committee member of the Hong Kong Numismatic Society and Vice Chairman of the Hong Kong Stamp and Coin Dealer Association, Kenneth is the organizer of the Hong Kong International Numismatic Fair (HKINF), which is held each June and December.

A collector of coins and stamps starting in 1983, Jan and childhood friend Jacco Scheper visited numerous shows together starting in high school. After earning a journalism degree in 1992, he spent seven years in media before volunteering to help with Jacco's new venture at MPO once the company began auctioning in 1999. Jan officially joined the firm in 2001 as a specialist in Dutch medieval, provincial and colonial numismatics and now plays a vital role with the newly formed Heritage Auctions Europe. 

Jan's experience in auctioneering and consigning during his 16-year tenure with MPO has made him an expert on Dutch and European Currency. A member of the NVMH (Dutch Association of Coin Dealers) catalog, he is multilingual in English, Dutch, German and French.

Sam joined Heritage’s World & Ancient Coin department in 2013 after graduating from the University of Chicago with degrees in Classics and History.  Sam’s responsibilities include market research and data analysis, catalog production and working with his category’s top bidders and consignors. He also works closely with Heritage’s foreign offices and often travels overseas to represent the company at trade shows and expand Heritage’s international presence.  Sam spearheaded many of our latest and most innovative technological features in the World and Ancient Coin Department, providing bidders with helpful tools such as relevant comparable auction results and third-party grading census data to the online lot pages.

Zach received a BBA in Finance from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in 1992. Having worked primarily in the Information Systems field as a network admin or project manager for various firms since graduation, he left the industry to open his own coin dealer business full-time in 2003. Self-taught and specializing in ancient coins, Zach continued to run the business while participating extensively in online forums, developing a reputation for meticulous cataloging and research, leading to a position as co-writer for one of the columns in the Celator Magazine, where he received an award in 2005 for "Best Column" from the Numismatic Literary Guild for "The Internet Connection."

In 2013, he accepted the position of customer service manager for an online website for coin dealers and remained for 4-1/2 years until joining the world and ancient coin department at Heritage in June 2017. Bringing his enthusiasm for cataloging, Zach greatly enjoyed preparing the popular, and growing, weekly internet sessions, as well as the signature auctions, to assist collectors in better understanding the complex and beautiful arena of ancient numismatics. Since joining the team, the world and ancient coins department has seen explosive growth in sales and has been awarded NLG awards each year for Best Auction Catalog of World Coins: 2018 (August ANA Platinum Night); 2019 (Morris Collection, August Central States); 2020 (NYINC Platinum Night); 2021 (Paramount Collection, August Central States).

Having been promoted to Director of Ancient Coins in 2021, his primary duties now involve negotiating consignments, but still is the primary cataloger for the signature ancient auctions (Platinum Session, Signature Session, and Showcase auctions).

Madisen Caster has a background in medieval history and earned her MA in Museum Studies from the University of Leicester in England, renowned for its pioneering museological program. Marc Emory was born in northern Virginia, where he grew up the son of a Washington D.C. newspaper correspondent. As a child of the Washington political scene, he visited the White House at age 13 and Capitol Hill many times. Like many children of Washington, he attended the Sidwell Friends School. He was then accepted for the School Year Abroad program in Barcelona. He then went on to graduate from Andover (1970) and, four years later, graduated cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania (1974) with a degree in Spanish. He has always had an interest in languages, and while at Penn, he was introduced to German and Swedish and continued his studies in Spanish and Russian from high school. In addition to those four languages plus Catalan, a byproduct of his year in Barcelona, he has since learned French, Italian, and Dutch. Always interested in collectibles, Marc was impressed from early childhood by the Smithsonian collections of both coins and minerals, which were within walking distance of his father's office at the National Press Building at 14th and F streets in Washington, D.C. He maintains an extensive collection of minerals at his German home near the Rheinland city of Dusseldorf, which he shares with his wife, Elisabeth, of 43 years. 

Marc also has a collection of U.S. and world coins and an assortment of guitars hand-crafted by legendary luthier Bozo Podunavac. A musician by hobby, he has made recordings and done solo concert tours in his spare time. He has performed before Presidents Ford and Clinton. Marc has been with the Heritage organization without interruption for over fifty years, the first seven with one of the firms that later merged to form Heritage.After graduating from the University of Pennsylvania, Marc founded and oversees the operations of the Heritage Overseas offices, which are now in France (since 1979), Germany (since 1979), Switzerland (since 1984), and the Netherlands (since 1990). The European offices, under Marc's supervision, offer Heritage services to collectors, consignors, and estates in their own countries and languages, as well as to banks and Central Banks around Europe and the world.

In 1991, Todd co-founded Pinnacle Rarities, a firm specializing in servicing the most advanced and preeminent collectors in numismatics.  At 25, he was one of the youngest people ever accepted into the Professional Numismatists Guild and has served on its Consumer Protection Committee and its Legislation/Taxation Issues Committee.  In 1992, he was invited to join the Board of Directors for the Industry Council for Tangible Assets, later serving as its Chairman (2002-2005).  Todd joined Heritage in 2006 and became a partner in 2009.  He currently serves on the Board of Trustees for the Dallas Historical Society and on the “Red Book” Advisory Panel.  He is often cited as one of the most influential deal-makers and market experts in U.S. numismatics and oversees services for our Legacy Client Group. Todd advises many of the world’s most prominent collectors and is often engaged with our more complex auction consignments and most valuable private transactions.

At age 12, Huib Pelzer eagerly traded his guitar for three Roman coins of Constantine the Great, marking the start of a lifelong fascination with numismatics and collecting. He earned his degree in social geography from the esteemed Utrecht University in 1992 before starting a travel agency immediately after graduation that specialize in organized tours of the Baltic States and most of Eastern Europe. In 1996, Huib partnered with Jacco Scheper to help lead MPO's expansion into the auction business. 

While specializing in world and ancient coins, fine art and collectibles, Huib's day-to-day responsibilities include managing Heritage Auctions Europe's Amsterdam office and client services and support. He also organizes the office's appraisal days and manages the press. Huib is fully conversant in English, German, Dutch/Flemish and French.

Thomas started his numismatic journey as a curious 8-year-old kid who found a coin in Rio de Janeiro’s ocean. By the age of 12, he started dealing coins and currency in Brazil. With an interest in Latin, ancient and medieval numismatics, he specialized in such coins and made a career in numismatics, with a brief hiatus to get his Law degree. After seeing that law practice wasn’t for him, Thomas decided to return to the coin business. With a close friend, he formally opened Aletho Numismatics in 2020, a successful venture that cemented Thomas as a key lecturer and active participant in the Brazilian Numismatic Society. Thomas brought his expertise to the World and Ancient Coins team at Heritage Auctions in 2021, where he currently works with World coins from accross the globe. Thomas is conversant in English, Spanish and Portuguese.

A 17-year veteran of the Dutch auction scene, Idsard began collecting stamps as a child before also moving onto coins. After graduating in 1998 with a degree in Geophysics and Geography from the Netherlands' prestigious Utrecht University, he joined MPO when the company held its inaugural auction in 1999, and has continued to be an integral member of the firm since. 

A native of Vlissingen, Netherlands, Idsard specializes in stamps, world numismatics, medals and decorative arts. He is multilingual in English, Dutch and German.

After residing in Australia for several years, she relocated to Dallas and embarked on a second career at Heritage, where she pursued her long-standing passion for coin collecting. As an avid Anglophile, she has a particular affinity for coins from Great Britain and the British Empire. Her expertise also extends to physical cryptocurrency, contributing to the cataloging of Heritage’s physical cryptocurrency auctions. Andrew Winger began collecting coins at the age of 7 and has maintained a passion for numismatics ever since. Originally from Calgary, Canada, he studied 19th and 20th Century World and Comparative History at the University of Victoria in Western Canada. Andrew went on to pursue a Masters in Maritime Archaeology from Bournemouth University (UK) and there developed an interest in shipwreck-salvage coins as well as shipwreck lifesaving gallantry medals. An avid traveler, Andrew has at one point or another called Hong Kong, Cairo, Cyprus, the UK, Vancouver, and Victoria home. Today, Andrew resides in Montreal and enjoys cycling, cooking, and taking on DIY projects in his spare time.
