Platinum Night Rarities Shine in Heritage's July 2008 Baltimore ANA Signature Auction

Dallas, TX. Significant and classic rarities from all series in American numismatics are available in Heritage's Platinum Night catalog for the Official Auction of the Baltimore 2008 ANA World's Fair of Money.® The auction will be held in Baltimore July 30 - Aug. 3, with Platinum Night on July 31, 2008. The auction is now posted by Heritage Auction Galleries on their HA.com website, and all lots are available for inspection and bidding.

"The great rarities included in this auction are dazzling," commented Heritage President Greg Rohan, "and in such a strong market, we predict that many records will be set. The Baltimore ANA contains rarities from 400 consignors, but I must call special attention to the magnificent gold in Part Five of the Stephen Stokely Collection (his $20 Saint-Gaudens Registry Collection) and the Pierson MacDonald Grieve Collection, the Large Cents of the Joshua Collection; Part Four of the Phil Kaufman Collection of Early Proof Sets, and The Ed Price Collection of Early Dime and Quarter Eagle Varieties. Other important anchor consignments include: The Oscar Alexander Collection of 1908 Gold; The Aspen Collection; The Bayside New York Collection of Half Dollars, 1794-1807; The Duffy Collection; The "A Gift of Undeserved Favor" Collection; The Glenwood Collection, Part Two; The Jerry Kochel Collection; The Dan McClure Collection; The Dennis Nelson Collection; The Estate of Robert R. Rollins Collection, Part Three; The Estate of Francis A. Sullivan, Jr., Part Three; and The University Drive Collection. This auction contains a wide range of rarities at many price levels. The special lot added to the auction - lunch with Jim Halperin for the benefit of the ANA - is also attracting significant attention!"

Highlights from Heritage's Baltimore ANA Platinum Night: Platinum Night treasures from Part Four of the Phil Kaufman Collection of Early Proof Sets; virtually all are "Finest Known" or "Among the Finest Known," and include important pedigrees such as Pittman and Garrett. Platinum Night treasures from the Ed Price Collection, the first and only complete collection of early Dime and Early Quarter Eagle varieties, featuring all of the shared reverse dies.
