Description

Near-Gem 1919-D Walking Liberty Half

1919-D 50C MS64 PCGS. The 1919-D is a notorious condition and strike rarity for the Walking Liberty half dollar, particularly in Mint State grades. This example illustrates a typical strike for the date, softly defined on the head with Liberty's branch hand nonexistent. Yet the surface quality is uncommonly excellent; both sides are bright and frosted with hints of gold and peach scattered at the margins. Despite the strike deficiency, this is one of the more attractive 1919-D near-Gems that the collector is likely to find, and prospective bidders should keep this in mind. Housed in a green label holder. Population: 64 in 64, 11 finer (1/11).
