A Prooflike Novodel 1836 Family Rouble
Nicholas I Novodel 1-1/2 Family Rouble 1836, obverse signed П.У., reverse unsigned, Bust of Nicholas I right/Bust of Empress Alexandra in the center, facing right, surrounded by busts of the Royal children with no circles, Bit-H889, Choice AU. The fields are fully prooflike with a few light marks, the strike is bold, and the highpoints have the slightest touch of rubbing. Very close to Mint State. The diagnostic break in the die is visible between 4 and 5 o'clock, but it is not as large as seen on some Novodels. One of the recognizable treasures of Russian numismatics and an issue that stirs excitement whenever an example appears in the marketplace.More information about Russian Coins.
