Amazing 15 Ducats of Leopold
Leopold I (the Hogmouthed) medallic gold 15 Ducats ND (1666-1705), Hall Mint, Laureate bust of Leopold I right, wearing chain of the Order of the Golden Fleece, beneath the signature Max K. for Maximilian Konig/Crowned Tirol eagle, 42.5 mm, Slg. Horsky 2251 (in this collection as a 20 Ducats), 51.92 gm, AU58 NGC. Fully lustrous with superb details and light contact marks. The bust of Leopold is exquisitely detailed, in extremely high-relief, and the overall appearance is an amazing 17th, or early 18th, century work of art.Leopold. Holy Roman Emperor, was the second son of Ferdinand III and his first wife Maria Ana of Austria. He reigned as Holy Roman Emperor from 1658 to 1705. His reign was marked by constant military conflicts, including the Great Turkish War, the Nine Years' War, and the Ware of Spanish Succession. He died in 1705, leaving the throne to his son Joseph.
