Description
Impressive 1892 Double Eagle, MS62
1892 $20 MS62 PCGS. A wonderful example of the rare 1892 double eagle, an important date outright, in addition to its condition rarity. Only 4,430 business strikes were minted, and most entered circulation. The average grade of certified pieces hovers around the low AU level. This specimen has satiny green-gold luster with hints of salmon toning and dark olive patina on the design high points. It is entirely original and wholesome. Only about 100 to 150 examples survive in all grades. Contemporary collectors chose proofs to represent the date, explaining the absence of high grade business strikes. This example is extremely important to specialists. Population: 7 in 62, 6 finer (9/09).From The Little Rock Collection.(Registry values: N4719)
