Rare AU58 Details 1875-CC Five

1875-CC $5 --Cleaned--ANACS. AU58 Details. Sharply struck for the Carson City Mint, with softness limited to the eagle's shield. A careful wipe from a jeweler's cloth has left this representative slightly bright, but the only remotely mentionable mark is faded and relatively concealed beneath the scroll. The 1875-CC has a low mintage of 11,828 pieces, and many of the hundred-plus survivors are heavily worn. PCGS and NGC have each certified an example as AG3. Only two 1875-CC half eagles have been certified as Mint State by either NGC or PCGS, an MS61 PCGS and an MS63 NGC. Since those two pieces are out of reach for any collector left out of the Sam Walton estate, this smooth and momentarily circulated example will serve as a high grade substitute.(Registry values: P3)
