Description

Deeply Mirrored And Deeply Toned 1869 Standard Silver Ten Cents, Judd-708

1869 10C Standard Silver Ten Cents, Judd-708, Pollock-787, R.5, PR64 PCGS. Liberty faces right and wears a headband ornamented with a star. The reverse features an oak and laurel wreath with STANDARD SILVER above and the date below. Struck in silver with a reeded edge. The fields are very deeply mirrored, this aspect being evident even through the deep blue, violet, and citrine toning seen on each side. Struck from a heavily striated obverse die, the reverse is a bit softly struck on the lower portion of the wreath, no doubt a result of die opposition to some design element on the obverse.(#60933)
