Description

Pleasing 1805 Half Cent, Large 5, Stems, C-4, MS63 Brown

1805 1/2 C Large 5, Stems MS63 Brown PCGS. C-4, B-4, R.2. A large 5 in the date and stems at the bottom of the wreath identify this variety. This piece is Breen Die State VI, as evidenced by the numerous cracks and die rust spots on the obverse and the multiple clash marks on the reverse. Charming mahogany patina drapes the surfaces of this remarkably clean specimen. A small blemish on Liberty's cheek is barely worthy of mention. The strike is bold and the eye appeal is great. Minute doubling is evident on parts of the reverse legend. Breen (1983) wrote that this variety is "common enough in ordinary grade, but of the highest rarity in true mint state." EAC 55. Population: 1 in 63 Brown, 2 finer (8/08).(Registry values: P5)
