Description
1863 PR64 Half Dollar, An Important No Motto Half With Cameo Contrast
1863 50C PR64 Cameo PCGS. Precisely because the Mint paid no attention to field-to-device contrast during the height of the Civil War, such well-produced proofs as this are rarely seen. The fields are deeply mirrored and there is a slight overlay of mint frost on the devices, surely from the use of new dies and not the result of a conscious effort on the part of mint personnel. A lightly toned, upper-end near-Gem coin. Population: 5 in 64 Cameo, 2 finer (4/07).Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 27TP, PCGS# 86417, GSID# 6453)
Metal: 90% Silver, 10% Copper
Weight: 12.44 grams
ASW: 0.39oz
Mintage: 460
