Description

PR67 Cameo 1900 Silver Dollar

1900 $1 PR67 Cameo NGC. The somewhat larger mintage of this issue, 912 proofs, from 846 in 1899 and 735 in 1898, is undoubtedly due to the centennial change. But in Superb Gem proof condition with Cameo surfaces, as here, the issue is still quite rare and elusive. Only 13 pieces at both NGC and PCGS combined have attained so fine a grade, with six pieces finer, all at NGC (11/06). A light golden cast is visible over the silvery surfaces, while a slight but sufficient amount of mint frost coats the devices. Glimpses of lilac and ice-blue also appear near the rims, and even close scrutiny with a loupe reveals essentially pristine, distraction-free surfaces.(Registry values: N4719)
