Description

Nearly Perfect 1923 Peace Dollar, MS67 NGC

1923 $1 MS67 NGC. The 1923 Peace dollar is a high mintage issue, like the 1922, with a mintage in excess of 30 million pieces. Innumerable pieces were dropped into circulation and could occasionally be encountered in the channels of commerce as late as the early 1960s. Like the 1922, the large mintage did not translate into availability in high grades. However, more were set aside of the 1923 than the 1922. Still, only 100 or so pieces (subtracting resubmissions) have been certified by the two major services to date (3/06). This is an exemplary coin that displays thick mint frost and surfaces that are as close to perfection as we have ever seen on a Peace dollar. Brilliant throughout and fully struck.
