Description

1844 Henry Clay Medal Uncertified. Sullivan 1844-2. 50 mm. White metal. This thick campaign medallion has a deeply incused depiction of factories belching out smoke and a ship at sea--commerce in the purest sense for the first half of the 19th century. Clay was "The People's Choice" as a nominee, having sought high office on three occasions. Minor, typical rim digs and scratches detract little. This is one of the best Clay tokens to be found.
