Description
Choice Mint State 1929 Half Eagle
1929 $5 MS64 PCGS. As rare and well-known as this date is to collectors, it is only ranked as the ninth rarest date according to Akers. This is because the entire mintage was saved from circulation, and eventually stored in vaults. Most were later melted, although some examples were saved from the melting pot and entered numismatic circulation. This example is a sharply struck specimen with frosty yellow-gold luster and excellent visual appeal.(Registry values: N4719)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 28E2, PCGS# 8533, GSID# 9316)
