Description

Victor David Brenner Business Card
Autograph Note on the Reverse

Victor David Brenner Autograph Note on Business Card. A business card from Victor David Brenner, creator of the Lincoln cent, light soiling overall, otherwise Fine condition with corners having above-average sharpness. On the back is a handwritten and initialed note from Mr. Brenner: "Please accept this / as a momento [sic] of / the pleasant eve / I spent with you. / With best greeting, / V. D B." Close and initials weakly inked and lightly smudged, rest of note dark and clearly lined (if not particularly legible). Neither the addressee nor the memento is identified, but the lot includes a 1909 VDB cent, as plausible a suggestion as any for the latter; this piece is unworn with unusually sharp features, though neither the texture nor the absolute crispness of a matte proof. Color is largely olive-brown with hints of muted orange.
