Description

Brilliant Gem 1912-S Lincoln Cent

1912-S 1C MS65 Red PCGS. It is somewhat surprising that no more full red Gems exist of this issue, considering that 4.4 million pieces were struck. Sharply impressed throughout, the surfaces have a slightly mellowed but fully glossy, original red finish. A small area of deep cherry-red color is noted at the base of the obverse. The coin has the fine-grain texture one sees often on all coins struck from 1910-1919, reminiscent of the matte proofs struck during this era. Population: 42 in 65, 0 finer (9/08).
