XF 1788 Head Left New Jersey Copper

1788 COPPER New Jersey Copper, Head Left XF40 NGC. Maris 50-f, R.2. The most available variety of the scarce Head Left subtype. A smooth medium brown piece with a bold obverse and minor softness on the shield and left reverse border. Struck slightly off center toward 9 o'clock. New Jersey accepted the Federal Constitution in 1787, which banned state coinage. However, the Constitution did not go into effect for a few additional years. Listed on page 67 of the 2007 Guide Book.
