Possibly Finest 1882 Judd-1703 Copper Dollar Pattern

1882 $1 Shield Earring Silver Dollar, Judd-1703, Pollock-1905, High R.7, PR66 Red and Brown PCGS. The Shield Earring design described at Judd-1702. Struck in copper with a reeded edge. Both sides of this Gem proof have light tan color with substantial original orange mint color, with additional nuances of lilac, blue, and gold. Copper impressions of this pattern design are quite a bit rarer than pieces struck in silver. Just five specimens are confirmed by Saul Teichman including one from the Byron Reed Collection that is now in the Western Heritage Museum. A second is in the "Lemus Collection." This piece is the finest of the other three, and possibly the finest of all five known examples.
