   Description
Affordable 1792 Half Disme
1792 H10C Half Disme, Judd-7, Pollock-7, R.4--Holed--ANACS. VG 8 Details. A collectible example of this enormously popular coin that will be more affordable than most examples offered in recent times. There is a moderate hole through the coin above Liberty's head which probably produced a slight bend in the planchet. Additional circulation created some uneven wear patterns, and there are scratches on both sides. Toned with pleasing medium gray which accents the lighter silver devices. Examination will discover a few letters which are worn away near the rim, but the date and eagle are both generally clear, and this coin retains a lot of detail. While certainly not the most alluring example of this issue, this one will be a lot more affordable than most.As these were intended for circulation and were struck in the months prior to the Philadelphia Mint being opened, they have legitimate claim to being the first Federal coinage issued by our country. Historical research continues, and it would be difficult to find a more historic and important issue than the 1792 half disme. There are perhaps 150-200 known today in all grades, precious few considering the number of collectors who desire to own a specimen. Listed on page 85 in the 2006 Guide Book.(Registry values: P9)
Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 22ZS, PCGS# 11020, Greysheet# 240963)
