Scarce 1804 C-1 Half Cent

1804 1/2 C Crosslet 4, With Stems. C-1, B-1, Low R.3. Die State 2--Obverse Scratched--NCS. VF Details. VG10 EAC. High 4, distant from 0; Close fraction, 00 joined. This is the so-called "Cross-Eyed Zeros" reverse that continued in service after its use for 1803 C-3. The denominator of the fraction has 00 joined, or at least extremely close together. This example is from the usual later die state with the reverse crack prominent. The area above and right of the crack, including ES, is on a higher plane with those letters weakly defined. The obverse has a few light scratches in the field right of Liberty, but otherwise the surfaces on both sides are pleasing. Attractive medium brown color with hints of olive.
