1839-O $2 1/2 AU58 NGC. Low Date, Close Fraction, Breen-6153, McCloskey-B, R.4. This variety has the date placed low, with the 9 away from Liberty's hair. The reverse shows a disconnected berry and malformed arrowheads. The 1839-O can be located through AU55, but is scarce any finer. This near-Mint specimen displays rich apricot-gold patina, and a good amount of luster. Well struck, with no significant contacts. This later die state reveals several reverse cracks. The reverse is in medallic alignment, which is typical of the variety.(Registry values: P3)
