Description
Well Struck 1839-O Quarter Eagle
AU58, Breen-6153, McCloskey-B
1839-O $2 1/2 AU58 NGC. Low Date, Close Fraction,
Breen-6153, McCloskey-B, R.4. This variety has the date placed low,
with the 9 away from Liberty's hair. The reverse shows a
disconnected berry and malformed arrowheads. The 1839-O can be
located through AU55, but is scarce any finer. This near-Mint
specimen displays rich apricot-gold patina, and a good amount of
luster. Well struck, with no significant contacts. This later die
state reveals several reverse cracks. The reverse is in medallic
alignment, which is typical of the variety.(Registry values: P3)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25G7, PCGS# 7701, GSID# 8261)
