Description
Important Proof 1936 Mercury Dime
1936 10C PR68 NGC. A remarkable example, representing the finest available quality, and the only such example certified by NGC. The surfaces exhibit attractive pewter color with excellent peripheral gold and iridescent toning. The fields on this particular example are not deeply mirrored as on most, and are almost reminiscent of the Type One or Satin Finish usually only associated with the 1936 Proof Cents and Nickels. Could it be that this is one of the eight satin finish proofs noted by Walter Breen in his Encyclopedia?
