Description

Heavily Circulated Judd-60 1836 Gobrecht Dollar

1836 PS$1 Name on Base, Judd-60 Original, Pollock-65, R.1--Plugged, Repaired--NCS. Circ. Proof. Silver. Plain Edge. Die Alignment I. Original Issue of 1836 with the eagle flying upward. Because of the heavy wear, there is no way to determine whether this piece had the die scratch above the eagle's wing or not. The extensively worn surfaces would make one lean more toward the second striking period in late December, but there is just no vestige of the die scratch to absolutely confirm that belief. The surfaces show the detail of a PR 8 with extensive wear over each side. Light gray patina with just a hint of darker color around the devices and within the recesses of the design.
