Description

1853 50C Arrows and Rays MS65 NGC. Arrows and Rays halves are abundant in circulated grades, and even lower grade Mint State examples can be found in any major auction. Gems, by contrast, are highly elusive and appear only irregularly in the numismatic marketplace. This is a splendid and obviously original example that has light steel-gray surfaces with somewhat darker accents over the highpoints. A couple of marks are located on the lower area of the legs of Liberty, but these are insignificant, and the overall surfaces are clean and problem-free with soft, frosted mint luster. Boldly impressed and delightful. Census: 27 in 65, 15 finer (7/08).
