Description

Scarce 1794 V-1, LM-1 Flowing Hair Half Dime

1794 H10C --Bent, Improperly Cleaned--NCS. VF Details. V-1, LM-1, R.6. Reiver state a. Early die state for this variety, with no trace of the obverse cracks which form later. The bend is not discernible in the holder, but must be slight as it is not readily apparent. As to the cleaning, there are some minor hairlines on the surfaces, but no distracting evidence is found of this event. The surfaces show a few old cuts and nicks, including a minor scrape down from the E of LIBERTY into the upper curls on Liberty's head. Toned an attractive medium gray throughout. A very scarce variety and the toughest of the four 1794 varieties to find in any grade. While not the prettiest example of this die pairing that exists, this coin does show the important die attributes, and the surfaces and quality are better than the NCS holder implies as the evidence of cleaning and the bend are minimal.
