Patinated Gem Proof 1863 Silver Dollar
1863 $1 PR65 NGC. This exquisite Gem proof Seated dollar has a mintage of just 460 pieces. The strike is razor-sharp, even on the claws, Liberty's hair, and the upper stars. Rotation of the coin reveals ocean-blue, rose, caramel-gold, and slate-gray. The preservation is exemplary. A tiny strike-through near star 5 provides an identifier. A beautiful and important representative of the Motto subtype. 1863 was the year of Gettysburg, the turning point of the Civil War.
