1843-O Large Date, Plain 4 Quarter Eagle

1843-O $2 1/2 Large Date, Plain 4 AU58 NGC. Bass. Some luster resides in the fields, and the strike is wholesome and full on the obverse, however, the reverse shows minor softness on the thigh and claws of the eagle. The Large Date, Plain 4 die pairing is much scarcer than the Small Date counterpart. Identifiable by a minor scrape below the fraction on the reverse. Census: 25 in 58, 11 finer (1/06).(Registry values: P2)
