Description
Delightful AU 1848-D Quarter Eagle
1848-D $2 1/2 AU50 NGC. Variety 10-M. The stars and obverse denticles are well struck, some weakness is present on the lower obverse details, and on the eagle's neck and Liberty's hair curls. The pale gold surfaces are cloudy but retain ample luster. A mere 13,771 pieces were struck, and the number of unimpaired, well detailed survivors is inadequate to meet the needs of Southern gold specialists.(Registry values: P2)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25HC, PCGS# 7751, GSID# 8359)
