About Uncirculated 1856-C Quarter Eagle
1856-C $2 1/2 AU50 PCGS. Variety 17-J. Luster glints from the recesses of this typically struck rare date quarter eagle. The fields and devices are clean aside from a thin mark above the E in LIBERTY. Fewer than 8,000 pieces were struck, and since PCGS has certified just two coins as Mint State, most collectors select an AU example.
